Moshé Zwarts

Al jaren is Moshé Zwarts gefascineerd door de eenvoud en het gemak van een klapstoel. De uitnodiging van Zetel betekende voor hem de prikkel om zelf een klapstoel te realiseren. Zijn uitgangspunt: ? ....een constructie te maken die er in eerste instantie heel slap uitziet, maar als je erop gaat zitten verandert in een stevige stoel. Niet dat het stoeltje star is, want hij is nog steeds erg beweeglijk."

Het ontwerp van de constructie heeft geleid tot 2 prototypes (een van hout, een van staal) die in de collectie van Zetel zijn opgenomen. Moshé Zwarts is het ontwerp inmiddels verder aan het uitwerken om uiteindelijk zijn doel te bereiken: een representatieve klapstoel, eenvoud mét allure.

Moshé Zwarts has been fascinated by the simplicity and ease of folding chairs for years. Through Zetel’s invitation, he was able to realize a model that elaborated on the idea of the folding chair. What was his starting point? “To make a construction that at first sight looks fragile, but once sat upon, it changes into a sturdy chair. Not that the chair is rigid, it is still wobbles a bit”.

The construction of the design has led to two prototypes (one in wood, the other in steel) both included in Zetel’s collection. Moshé Zwarts is now developing the design further in order to reach his goal: a presentable folding chair, simplicity with allure.
