De inspiratie voor Ortho vond Patrice Girod in het materiaal: aluminium, staal en rubber. Samen vormen zij de constructie die bewegelijk en stijf tegelijk is.

„Ik streef naar reductie van materialen en hoe je iets zo dun en minimalistisch mogelijk kunt maken. Dat effect krijg je heel goed met staal en aluminium. Door de metalen platen ook nog eens dubbel op elkaar te plaatsen krijg je driedimensionaliteit en dat ziet er vol uit, terwijl je dus zo minimaal mogelijk materiaal gebruik.”

Patrice Girod found inspiration for Ortho 1 in aluminium, steel and rubber. Together they form a construction that is flexible and inflexible simultaneously.

“I always strive for reduction of material, to create something as thin and minimalist as possible.” It is possible to realise this with steel and aluminium. You can achieve a three-dimensional effect by placing the metal sheets on top of one another, which makes it look fuller while using the least amount of material possible.”
