De eerste bijdrage van Yvon Visser aan Zetel betrof een uitvoering van haar archetypische stoel voor haar eindexamenproject aan de Rietveldacademie. Een simpele potloodtekening diende hierbij als uitgangspunt waarbij staal als materiaalkeuze de potloodlijn zo zuiver mogelijk kon benaderen. De verjonging van de stalen poot bij de rugleuning en het kruis onder de zitting dragen bij aan de ijle vorm van de stoel.

Een nieuw onderzoek uit 2003 leidde tot Jean. Yvon Visser zocht hierbij naar de juiste manier van vouwen om uit één plaat een stoel te maken. Na vele kleine schaalmodellen koos zij aluminium als materiaal. Het patroon van Jean wordt hier uit gezaagd en op vier plaatsen gebogen.

Yvon Visser is een veelzijdig ontwerper. Haar werk ontstaat als handwerk en behoudt in de productie deze affiniteit. Zij werkt veel met LED zoals het ontwerp Starled (een kleine ster met 5 lampjes aan de punten dat werkt op één 9 Volt batterij die tevens als standaard dient) en de ring Glowing Jewel waarbij zij LED laat schitteren als ware het een juweel. Een bijzondere kwaliteit van Yvon is haar soepele omgang met (edel–) metaal als basismateriaal.

The binding of the steel legs to the backrest and to the cross-construction under the seat contribute to the thinness of the chair.
New research in 2003 led to Jean. She was looking for the best way to fold a single sheet of metal into a chair. After working on many scale models, she decided to use aluminium to create the chair. The pattern is cut out of the sheet and folded in four places.
Yvon Visser is a versatile designer. She handcrafts her work to develop it and this affinity is continued in the production process. She often works with LED, for instance her Starled design (a small star with a light on each point that works on a 9 volt battery, the battery also functioning as its support) and the Glowing Jewel ring in which an LED shines like a real jewel. Yvon’s work has a special quality because of her supple utilization of (precious) metals.
